Summary of past meetings presented by Julie Locquiao. & Gemma Rio.
4. Issues for discussion
• Equipment and official letterhead – Features of printer to be
acquired should include the following: user friendly, fast, fax and
duplex capability. Julie found an HP model that is approximately
$900. Yeyet offered ideas regarding the printer and our official
letterhead with logo and names of officers & board members. The
board assigned Yeyet to canvass the best deal available for both.
Five hundred printed official receipts (EIN#s need to be
handwritten) will be ready March 17 from Allen’s Printing as per Vel
Callao.
• Concerns from members regarding (a) fund raising and allocation of
funds; (b) confusion as to who is the current president,
particularly from email messages with sender as “pnanef@bellsouth.net”;
(c) existence of two websites for PNANEF (with the old one coming
out first with search engines, e.g. Google). To help resolve these
issues, financial reports, minutes of the meetings and activities
will be posted in our official website “pnanef.com.” Printed
newsletters will be reconsidered for members who are not able or not
interested to access the website. To save on mailing costs, assigned
members (e.g. CE Committee) in different hospitals may distribute
newsletters. The board will formally ask Lolita Massengill, past
president not to use pnanef@bellsouth.net as her personal email
address. In addition, Lolita and Ruben Reyes need to delete the old
website as discussed last January 6th. A link from our official
website will be created if they would like to have a website for the
Legacy of Care Health Clinic of PNANEF.
• PNA of America Conventions – Regional convention scheduled for May
17-19 at Atlanta, Georgia, while the National convention will be in
Anaheim, Los Angeles in July 2007. Details can be obtained at the
PNAA website, linked from pnanef.com website. Julie Locquiao plans
to attend both meetings and she is encouraging other members too for
CE and networking. Need to prepare a brag album or poster to
highlight our chapter activities. Volunteers welcome. Gemma
Rio
and Irma Ancheta will be nominated for outstanding educator and
researcher.
5. Financial Report – in excel format presented by treasurers
Pauline & Gemma. She acknowledged Pauline & Velia painstaking
efforts of manually keeping track of incoming and outgoing funds
from 2004-2006. The final value matched with the bank statement’s
report. Velia and Pauline expressed their “hard” lessons from being
treasurers. They suggested that accompanying receipts and itemized
list of donations received/expenses by the event chair prior to
submission to treasurers would be helpful. Everyone concurred that
such policy is necessary.
6. Continuing Education – There will be two whole day CE
opportunities for our members. First, CE program on Transcultural
Nursing (4hrs) and Legal Documentation (2hrs) will be on April 27,
Friday. A proposal by the AKH, Inc. (Advancing Knowledge in
Healthcare) presented and approved by the board. AKH Inc. will do
the following:
(a) select the faculty upon approval of PNA;
(b) work with faculty members to develop the curriculum;
(c) market the program with PNANEF and FNA District 2;
(d) manage the registration, catering, setup and breakdown of venue.
PNANEF will be responsible for acquiring commercial support,
continuing education accreditation, and provision of laptap,
projector, microphone for use on the day of the program. Gemma, who
is also FNA District 2 Director of Education will present the
proposal to FNA Executive Board to solicit their support to capture
a bigger audience of nurses. Secondly, Care for the Elderly, offered
by FNA Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Council and supported by
Baptist Hosp will be on Saturday, April 28 at Baptist Downtown.
Non-Baptist employees will be asked to pay $20. Early registration
necessary through Lolita Massengill (565-1641) due to limited space.
