             Philippine Nurses Association of Northeast Florida, Inc was founded on May 23, 2004
A group of caring and concerned Filipino Physicians invited a handful of R.Ns from

different institutions of Jacksonville and Orange Park. These Doctors encouraged these nurses to form a Professional Nurses Organization representing hundreds of nurses from different counties of Jacksonville. Twelve very committed nurses and willing to make a difference from different institutions came together and after several meetings decided to go for it. After completing the requirements necessary to form an organization, the PNANEF were established
         PNANEF has two missions: Education and Community Service. We have offered 52 hours of
continuing education along with scholarships to qualifying high school graduates who have interested in
Nursing Profession. PNANEF kept their nurses continually updated and informed through fun and exciting
conferences.
      We had volunteered with "The American Heart Walk" annual events  and offered free medical screening and health awareness education to different church members and civic centers. We are currently committed
and partnered with the Christ the King Clinic to serve 4-5 hours each month doing nurses chores and other medical screening every 4th Saturday of each month.
         The latest event occurred on May 15-18th at Hyatt Regency of Jacksonville, Florida. The 8th South
Central Regional Conference, with the theme of "Promoting and Culture of Excellence, Dedication, and Commitment while enhancing the care of Older Adults".  The turnout and success of the event exceeded the expectations. It started with pre-registration and as  always the enjoyable welcome reception, which was a
wonderful opportunity to catch up with and mingled with old friends and meet new friends. Second day begun with an official welcome address of the Chief Nursing Officer and Senior VP of Baptist Health System,
commending the Filipino Nurses as one of the major integral part of the Baptist Health System and the Nursing Profession as a whole.
      PNAA President, Ms May Mayor then talked about the Cultural Journey to Excellence and Leadership.
Leo Jurad, President-elect talked about recruiting and retention. Maria Aguila, P.L. talked about Immigration
option fro foreign nurses. Other CEU topics presented were High-alert medication, legal implications and nursing documentation. Day two closed after  nurses recognized for their excellence in leadership and were
presented with certificate of achievement for their clinical practice by Julie Locquiao, PNANEF President,
Tammy Daniel, Assitant Nursing Administrator; Diane Raines, CNO and SVP.
     Day three includes topics on Managing Pain Safely with elders; the past, present and emerging trends in
elder care; Delimiting the burden of COPD; dementia and aging games; current advances in wound care;
hepatitis B review; aging and GI problems and updates on constipation closed out the education chapter of
the day.
               The  8th South Central Regional Conference concluded another year with " MABUHAY" a Philippine style celebration which created enough good memories to last a life time.
